Sex workers should be safe at work | Respect QLD

In early September 2024, a sex worker went to work at her usual workplace in Brisbane. She was sleeping overnight at the workplace after the shift ended and everyone else had left. She was found there dead, but not until 2 days later.

Like everyone else, sex workers should be able to expect that we will be safe in our workplaces.

Respect Inc would like to acknowledge the life and passing of Audrey, a valuable QLD sex worker community member. This loss has had a profound impact on the family, friends and co-workers of Audrey and all of us in the sex worker community.

There remain questions about the QPS investigation of this matter.  Those closest to her feel that the police and the coroner’s office failed to conduct a thorough investigation or to treat Audrey’s death as suspicious.

If you are a sex worker and think your workplace may not be meeting their WHS obligations, Respect Inc can help you to report it.
